How to use this download
Give a new arrival a predictable starting routine while keeping important care information easy to find.
- Prepare a quiet room with food, water, litter and a safe hideaway.
- Record the cat's appetite, preferred resting places and first voluntary explorations.
- Write questions for the rescue coordinator or veterinarian as you learn more.
Practical example
A cat who explores mostly at night may benefit from a quieter household routine rather than forced daytime introductions.
Helpful to know: Seek veterinary care promptly for refusal to eat or other concerning signs; the planner is not a medical assessment.
Let the cat establish comfort at its own pace
Prepare a safe starting space with food, water, litter, a quiet resting area and a place to hide. Record small signs of confidence, such as eating, using the box and exploring voluntarily, before extending access to the home. If other pets live with you, plan a separate gradual introduction rather than rushing face-to-face meetings. Use the checklist as a reminder, not a countdown.
Practical ways to use the pages
- Prepare a suitable resting and hiding space with water, food, litter and safe exits before the cat arrives.
- Let the cat control exploration and contact; keep children and resident pets from surprising a newly arrived animal.
- Record ordinary eating, drinking and litter use so any worrying changes are noticed promptly and discussed with a veterinarian.
Realistic planning example
An adopted cat may spend the first day under a bed yet explore quietly overnight. Recording routine care matters more than trying to make the cat pose for a welcome-home photo.
